Duke Micah wins WBC Bantamweight title

Undefeated Ghanaian boxer Duke Micah stopped his Mexican opponent Jonathan Aguilar in the eight round to the WBC international bantamweight title.

The 25 year-old champion started on a bright note in front of hometown fans in the Bukom Boxing Arena and was trailing on the scorecards when he sprang to life in the eighth round which later resulted in the technical knockout of Jonathan Aguilar who suffered an injury in his arm.

After overcoming Matthew Chanda in November 2016, Micah has now fought 21 bouts without a loss.

Despite his defeat Aguilar made things tough for Duke Micah in the first few rounds. Currently the Mexican has now had 6 career defeats.

Dressed in his usual black shorts Duke made his presence known by landing lots of punches on Aguilar who replied back with enough punches as the fight progressed.

Micah could not hold back his tears when the referee announced that Johnathan’ camp has thrown in the towel due to an injury he sustained.

Micah’s colleagues Richard Commey and Frederick Lawson who also fought on the night also won their fights respectively.

The bout was graced by the the President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo and ex-President Jerry John Rawlings who led other presentations.
